Book on Aimol Heritage Released

TENGNOUPAL: A book titled “Aimol Pile-Pu Kuhtrui Mangmarase” (Ancestral Inheritance of Aimol), written in the Aimol dialect by L Reameishan Aimol, a retired teacher of the Autonomous District Council, Chandel, was released on Saturday at a modest ceremony held at Aimol Chingnunghut village in Tengnoupal district, Manipur. The book was formally released by Chongom Damrengthang Aimol, Head of Department of Tribal Studies, Manipur University of Culture.

In his welcome address, Sialloa Munthuireng Aimol, president of the Aimol Tribe Union Manipur (ATUM), said that only a few books have been written on the history and heritage of the Aimol people so far. Expressing pride over the release of a book on the ancestral inheritance of the Aimol community, he lauded the author and encouraged young academicians from the community to follow in his footsteps.

Speaking as special guest, former MLA of 42-Tengnoupal Assembly Constituency, DK Korungthang, applauded L Reameishan for successfully bringing out his second book. He observed that a person or a community is not defined by the size of its population but by its performance and character. He urged everyone not to be demotivated by criticism while writing or in noble pursuits, but to learn and grow from the experience.

The event was attended by village chiefs, religious leaders, women leaders, youth and well-wishers.
