The United Kingdom prime minister Boris Johnson’s visit to India scheduled for January 26, as the chief guest at the Republic Day parade celebrations has been called off owing to the COVID crisis in UK.

The British prime minister called PM Modi and expressed his regret given the outbreak of a new strain of coronavirus in UK.

“The Prime Minister said that he hopes to be able to visit India in the first half of 2021, and ahead of the UK’s G7 Summit that Prime Minister Modi is due to attend as a guest”, a Downing Street spokesperson said.
