Ukhrul: An assessment camp for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) for distribution of kits and appliances was held at DRDA hall, Mini Secretariat Ukhrul on Monday.
Krishna Kumar, deputy commissioner of Ukhrul who initiated the camp is scheduled to hold two more camps in Ukhrul district. “One camp would be held at Ngahui (Awangkasom) for Chingai and Jessami block on October 18, and another one at Zalenbung on October 20 for LM block.”

A total of 300 persons attended the camp to avail the facilities. Out of which 203 were senior citizens and 67 were persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Tri – Cycle, wheel chair, cerebral palsy chair, elbow crutch, walking stick, hearing aid, power glass, smart cane, smart phone, mixed Kit etc, were some of the items the beneficiaries will receive.
The visiting doctors from Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), based in Guwahati checked up the beneficiaries in person.

The camp was organised by the district administration Ukhrul in collaboration with District Disability & Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), District Social Welfare, District Health Society, Ukhrul and Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) which is under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
The camp was taken up under Rastriya Vayoshree Yojana (RVY) and ADIP Scheme, Government of India, stated a release issued on Monday evening by DIO/DIPR Ukhrul.
