CBC Chandel Organizes Special Outreach Programme on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ at Liwachangning

CHANDEL: The Field Office, Chandel of the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Imphal Region, organized a Special Outreach Programme on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ today at the Destitute Children Home, Liwachangning, Chandel District.

The programme was held under the theme ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan’ to spread awareness among children and youth about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of building an addiction-free society for a developed nation.

Ts. Kumarling Monsang, Chairman, DCHL, Chandel District; Lungshim Khartu, Superintendent, DCHL; and Jireh Moyon, AIR Chandel Correspondent, graced the event as Special Guests. The event commenced with a welcome and keynote address by Mathew Sk Bengam, FPA, CBC, Field Office, Chandel. He outlined the core objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and emphasized that the campaign seeks to create awareness, foster community action, and build a drug-free society. He also stressed the theme, stating that a Nasha Mukt Bharat is essential to realize the vision of a developed India by 2047.

The resource person for the day was Leivon John Kobari, Principal, Smart Life Academy, Chandel District, who spoke in detail about the impact of substance abuse on physical health, mental well-being, education and career prospects. He urged the students to become ambassadors of a drug-free lifestyle and contribute actively towards nation-building.

In their addresses, the special guests emphasized that an addiction-free youth is the foundation of Viksit Bharat. They encouraged the children to stay focused on education, sports and skill development, and to support peers who may be facing challenges.

As part of the outreach, a quiz competition was conducted for the children and a mass pledge was taken against drug use. Prizes were distributed to the winners to encourage participation.

The initiative saw active participation from the children and staff of Destitute Children Home, Liwachangning, and reinforced the message that a Nasha Mukt Bharat is the true identity of a Viksit Bharat.
