Agartala: Amidst the devastation caused by natural disasters in 2024, the Central Government has stepped up by approving Rs.1554.99 crore for Tripura, Nagaland, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). This move ensures that the affected regions have the resources needed to mend their losses and recover.
The High-Level Committee (HLC), under the stewardship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has allocated the funds as follows: Rs. 288.93 crore for Tripura, Rs. 170.99 crore for Nagaland, Rs. 608.08 crore for Andhra Pradesh, Rs. 255.24 crore for Odisha and Rs. 231.75 crore for Telangana. This aid is subject to an adjustment of 50% of the opening balance in the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

Following the aid, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the government’s dedication, stating, “The Modi government stands like a rock in support of the disaster-affected people.”
“Today, the MHA approved an additional central assistance of Rs. 1554.99 crore to Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, Odisha, Telangana, and Tripura under the NDR fund. This is in addition to the Rs. 18,322.80 crore released by the centre to 27 states under the SDR fund,” he added.
Similarly, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed his appreciation, “This additional central assistance will definitely be a boon to the disaster-affected people in the state.”
He further noted, “The Rs 288.93 Crores allocated to Tripura will undoubtedly help the state to achieve the developmental goals left out due to the Tripura Floods 2024,” thanking PM Narendra Modi and HM Amit Shah for their continuous support.

According to the official statement, this additional aid complements the Rs. 18,322.80 crore already released to 27 states in SDRF, Rs. 4,808.30 crore from NDRF to 18 states, Rs. 2208.55 crore from SDMF to 14 states, and Rs. 719.72 crore from NDMF to 8 states for the financial year 2024-25.
The proactive deployment of Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) to these states right after the disasters struck, without waiting for formal memoranda, reflects the government’s commitment to immediate and effective disaster response.
