Ukhrul: The Centre For Peace Education Manipur (CFPEM) on Thursday officially released the translated copies of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in the dialects of Aimol, Chiru and Koren.
In a press release signed by Dr. L. Leiren Singh, Chair/Trustee of CFPEM stated that the “Trustees of the Centre For Peace Education Manipur (CFPEM), is glad to announce the released of the translated copies of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR, 1948) in the language/dialects of Aimol, Chiru, and Koren (Koireng) tribes of Manipur, India.”

Dr L. Leiren Singh was previously the Head of Department, Education, Manipur University. The translated documents are presently available online. It will be a campaign to educate the communities on UDHR.
CFPEM also expressed gratitude and thanks to various imminent translators. It also added that “since these are the first edition and maybe subjected to further discussion and improvement where deemed needed.”

It may be noted that in 2008, at the 60th Anniversary of the UDHR, the Kom version of UDHR was officially released by late Prof Ksh Bimola Devi in Manipur University.
CFPEM wished all to work earnestly in helping with the promotion of UN themed “Cultivating a Culture of Peace”.
