Chandel, Jun 30: The people of Chandel, led by the CNPO and ANTA, paid their last tribute and bid adieu to Late B.D. Behring at the district headquarter, Western Valley area and then at Chakpikarong public ground following which he was laid to rest at his birthplace, Thorcham village.
The two-time MLA from Chandel and also a former MP in the Rajya Sabha, Late B.D. Behring passed away on Friday (June 27) at Gangaram Hospital in Delhi after prolonged illness.
Upon his arrival in Imphal, leaders of Anãl CSOs and student bodies including MLA of 41-Chandel (ST) AC, Ss Olish also paid their tribute to Late B.D. Behring at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal.

On Sunday, a farewell program was held at his North AOC residence where his friends and colleagues, former MLAs and well-wishers came to pay their respects.
On Monday, his lifeless body was brought to district headquarters where a wreath laying event was held near the SDO Office. Lea by CNPO and ANTA, various tribe CSOs and student bodies came to say their last goodbye. The same was held in Wester Valley area.
Then, the funeral service was held at Chakpikarong Public Play Ground where hundreds gathered to say their last goodbye. During the service, various apex CSOs of the Nagas namely Naga Hoho, UNC, NWUM, ANTA, CNPO, ANSAM, Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (South), ALT GHq, besides many others conveyed their condolence messages.

As the service came to an end, the lifeless body of Late B.D. Behring was laid to rest at the cemetery of his birthplace, Thorcham village in Chakpikarong subdivision, Chandel district.
