Ukhrul, October 31: The 7th Hill District Sports Meet 2025–26 concluded on Friday at Ukhrul Headquarters Ground, with Chandel District Sports Association (DSA) lifting the men’s football championship title and Ukhrul DSA emerging champions in the women’s volleyball category.
The competitive men’s football final witnessed Chandel DSA defeated the hosts Ukhrul DSA with a 2–1 victory to claim the championship. The winners received a cash prize of ₹2 lakh, while the runners-up Ukhrul DSA were awarded ₹1 lakh.
Meanwhile, Ukhrul DSA shone in the women’s volleyball competition, defeating Senapati DSA to secure the championship title. The winning team walked away with ₹60,000, and the runners-up received ₹30,000 in cash.

Individual awards in the women’s volleyball event went to Rinrichon Shang of Ukhrul DSA as Best Spiker, and Ruby from Senapati DSA as Best Player of the Tournament.
In the men’s football category, Shedngam (Chandel DSA) was named Best Defender, Yami Longvah (Ukhrul DSA) took home the Best Midfielder award, and Bungring (Chandel DSA) was recognized as Best Goalkeeper. The Top Scorer title went to Kenphashah (Chandel DSA), while Winkle (Chandel DSA) was honoured as the Player of the Tournament.
The Best Disciplined Team award went to Tamenglong DSA, who also received a cash prize of ₹20,000.
In a key announcement, Tamenglong DSA was selected to host the next edition of the Hill District Sports Meet. This year’s event marked a special return after a three-year hiatus, with the last edition held in Chandel in 2021.

The closing ceremony was graced by Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner Ashish Das as Chief Guest. Ukhrul DFO Laishram Gitla and Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) President LW Thingreiphy, presented the awards at the prize distribution ceremony in the presence of President Darison Gangmei, UDSA Vice President Lucky Sareo, and other officials.
