Chandel: Pham Eka of Upa K Tathangam Monsang held

Chandel: The Monsang Customary Installation Function (Pham Eka) of Upa K. Tathangam Monsang as Assistant Chief (Rampuh) of Japhou Village Authority took place in a cultural manner on Tuesday at Japhou Local Ground, Chandel.

Upa W. Hemasing, Chief of Japhou Village Authority (JVA), and Upa Rev. Sh. Shrimon, Pastor of Japhou Baptist Church (JBC), attended the cultural function as the ‘Oath Administrator and Blessing Minister,’ respectively.

Dr. K. Aniljoy (son) of Upa K.Tathangam, in his welcome and introduction, thanked the Japhou village authority, church, family members, club, public, and well-wishers for the love, support, and cooperation extended to the family, making the function possible and successful.

During the oath of secrecy, Upa W. Hemasing, Chief of Japhou, congratulated Upa K. Tathangam with best wishes. Upa Rev. Sh. Shrimon, in his blessing prayer sermon, encouraged the village authority leaders to first “fear the Lord and be good doers, irrespective of big or small people, as far as delivering justice for the common people is concerned.”

In his installation speech, Upa K. Tathangam mentioned his early association with Sirti Thiimjiitam Sourkhe (STS), also known as Monsang Naga Student’s Union, as debate secretary during the presidential tenure of late Upa Th. Oliver Monsang. In the religious sphere, he had formerly served as Pastor of Japhou Baptist Church (JBC) from 1987-1997 and Chairman of the Church Board JBC for three terms (1999-2001 and 2008-2013). In his concluding speech, he reiterated that “he shall give his best for the growth and development of Japhou village.”

The Monsang customary function of the day was marked by beautiful cultural dance presentations from students of Japhou Upper Primary School-Japhou, Japhou village authority members, church leaders, and the general public, to the tune of Monsang folk songs, followed by the Monsang famous biryani known as “Sharuthuw buw.”

Monsang chiefs, church leaders, political leaders, CSO leaders, women leaders, and student leaders from Monsang and neighboring Naga villages in Chandel district attended the customary function with appreciation and gifts.
