Chandel, May 19: Sulam Area Sporting Association (SASA) organized the first of its kind – One day Get-Together on May 17, 2025 at Angchang Turf, Chandel Christian. A brainchild of Ts Mhanthung Anal (President, SASA) – The One day affair was organized with an objective to bring together Sulam clubs and maintain brotherhood & unity through sports.
SASA, an apex body of village clubs in Sulam (eastern side of Chandel district) established in 1976 with an objective of promoting & organizing sporting activities. SASA is well known for organizing a major bi-annual Sulam Sports Week wherein all the village clubs of Sulam participate in a weeklong affair.
SASA Sports Secretary Db Wiljoy kickstarted the day which witnessed 11 SASA affiliated clubs participating in Men’s & Women’s Football and Men’s & Women’s Volleyball tournaments. Over 400 participants cheered their respective teams. The event was graced by James Dilbung (President, Sulam Area Chiefs’ Association) and his Executives, BD Ningwar (President, Anal Lenruwl Tangpi), and Chiefs of Sulam villages.

Angbrasu defeated Phunchung in Men’s football final to become the Champion, meanwhile Paraolon A defeated Paraolon B to take the Women’s title. In Volleyball, Laitla defeated Phunchung to be crowned the Men’s Champion and Cheengkhu B downed Cheengkhu A to be crowned the Women’s Champion.
SASA Joint Secretary Sk Cheenghring in his vote of thanks appreciated all the participating clubs & members, expressed gratefulness to SACA for their generous contribution and thanked the individuals who supported the event with their financial contributions. The Get-Together concluded with the promise of the upcoming 2026 Sulam Sports Week.
