IMPHAL/UKHRUL: The mortal remains of well-known Manipuri guitarist Chongtham Vikram Singh, who allegedly died after being assaulted in Delhi, reached Imphal Airport on Wednesday.
Family members, residents from his locality and his fellow musicians gathered at the airport to receive his body. In a deeply emotional atmosphere, they accompanied his mortal remains from the airport to his family home, where the final rites are scheduled to be performed today.

Vikram’s return to Imphal marked the final journey of the musician, whose death has left his family, friends and members of the music fraternity in profound grief. His loved ones have demanded a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death and swift justice for those responsible.
It may be mentioned that Manipur chief minister Yumnam Khemchand has written to the Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta, urging a transparent investigation into Vikram’s death and calling for the case to be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The reported death of Vikram has also drawn strong condemnation from Northeastern communities, friends, and fellow musicians, who have expressed shock and anguish over the incident. They have urged the authorities to ensure that the circumstances leading to his death are thoroughly established and that those responsible are brought to justice without delay.
