UKHRUL: A three-day football tournament organised by the 32 Battalion CRPF under the aegis of the Manipur and Nagaland Sector, CRPF, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India under the “Khelo India” initiative concluded at F/32 Bn CRPF, L Gelmol village, Leimatak of Churachandpur district on Saturday.
The tournament, held from September 10 to 12, saw participation from 13 teams, with local youths taking an active part in the event.
The final was played between L Gelmol Youth Club and L Khengjang Youth Club on September 12, with L Khengjang Youth Club emerging victorious 4-1 after a penalty shoot-out.
L Khengjang Youth Club received the first prize of Rs 10,000 along with certificates and T-shirts, while L Gelmol Youth Club secured the second prize of Rs 6,000 with certificates and T-shirts. Kukimun Youth Club finished third and received Rs 4,000 along with certificates and T-shirts.
As part of the initiative to promote sports and fitness among local residents, three footballs and a pair of goal nets were also presented to local sports clubs.

The closing ceremony and prize distribution programme was attended by 32 Bn CRPF 2nd-in-Command Sandeep Kumar Neeraj, Deputy Commandant Vijender Singh, chief of L Gelmol Jamkholun Khongsai, chief of L Khengjang Lunkhothang and DGM, NHPC Leimatak, Rajeev Dhar Prasad, besides media personnel and local residents.
Addressing the participants, Sandeep Kumar Neeraj congratulated the teams and winners and expressed appreciation to the guests and media representatives for their participation and support.
