94 Bn CRPF Organises Cricket Tournament Under Khelo India in Kangpokpi

KANGPOKPI, SEP 12: The 94 Bn CRPF organised a cricket tournament under the Khelo India initiative at the Damdei Christian College playground in Kangpokpi district, Manipur, from September 12 to 15, 2026. The tournament was organised under the aegis of the IG, Manipur and Nagaland Sector, CRPF, and under the supervision of Ashok Kumar Singh, commandant, 94 Bn CRPF, a media release issued on Saturday said.

The opening event was attended by Ashok Kumar Singh, commandant, 94 Bn CRPF, as the special guest, along with Arvind Singh Yadav, 2IC, 94 Bn; Jayprakash Singh, deputy commandant, 94 Bn; Rupesh Kumar, assistant commandant, 94 Bn; Roshan Minz, assistant commandant, 94 Bn; S.B. Toppo, assistant commandant, 94 Bn; H.S. Meena, assistant commandant, 94 Bn; Dr Shrerag G. Krishna, CMO, 94 Bn; and Aiswarya Joy, assistant commandant, G/232 Bn.

The distinguished guests encouraged the participating teams and appreciated their enthusiasm, discipline and sporting spirit.

As per release, a total of eight teams comprising local youth and players from Kangpokpi district participated in the tournament. The participating teams were:

  1. Damdei Christian College
  2. KPI Cricket Club
  3. Usap Kalapahar
  4. Kanglatongbi
  5. Motbung Youth Club
  6. Charhajaree Youth Kings
  7. Damdei Super Giants
  8. Motbung Gorkha Cricket

The first match was played between Damdei Christian College and KPI Cricket Club at 11:00 AM on September 12 at the Damdei Christian College playground.

The second match was played between Motbung Youth Club and Charhajaree Youth Kings at 2:00 PM on September 12 at the same venue.

The tournament provided a platform for young and aspiring cricketers to showcase their talent while encouraging local youth to participate in sports and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The participating teams displayed commendable sportsmanship, enthusiasm and competitive spirit throughout the matches, which were conducted in a fair, disciplined and cordial atmosphere.

The tournament carried a cash prize of ₹12,000 for the winner and ₹8,000 for the runner-up. The prizes were distributed by Ashok Kumar Singh, commandant, 94 Bn CRPF.

The event concluded with an emphasis on the importance of sports, fitness, discipline and teamwork. The initiative was well received by the participants and the local community.

Civil society organisations, local clubs, villagers and youth appreciated the initiative undertaken by the 94 Bn CRPF and expressed gratitude, while hoping that similar sporting events would continue to be organised in the future.
