Ukhrul, Feb 9: Manipur CM N Biren Singh has tendered his resignation to the Governor, Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan today.
In the resignation letter, CM N Biren Singh stated that he was extremely grateful to the Central Government for timely actions, interventions, developmental work, and implementation of various projects to safeguard the interests of every Manipuri. The Chief Minister requested the Central Government, through the Governor, to continue addressing the aforementioned issues.

Among them, N Biren Singh placed five key points he said is important:
1. To maintain the territorial integrity of Manipur which has a rich and diverse civilizational history over thousands of years.
2. To crack down on border infiltration and to formulate policy for the deportation of illegal immigrants.
3. To continue the fight against drugs and narco-terrorism.
4. To continue stringent and foolproof revised mechanism of FMR with biometrics.
5. Time-bound and faster border fencing which are underway.

Meanwhile, State BJP President A Sharda Devi speaking to the media stated that Chief Minister N Biren Singh tendered his resignation in the state’s interest. She stressed that since the BJP came to power in 2017, CM N Biren Singh has been striving for development, peace, and the state’s integrity. She further stated that the party will continue to work in the interest of the people and the state’s territorial integrity.
It may be mentioned that Chief Minister N. Biren Singh went to New Delhi on February 5 amid speculation of a no-confidence motion against him in the upcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly session, as well as concerns about internal strife within the BJP party. The Manipur Assembly is slated to begin on February 10.
N Biren Singh was accompanied by Sambit Patra, few ministers, Manipur BJP president Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, and other MLAs at Raj Bhavan.
