Consultative meeting on Covid-19 Vaccination with CSOs and Church Leaders held in Ukhrul

A consultative meeting on Covid-19 Vaccination with State Health Society, Manipur and District Health Society, Ukhrul with CSOs and Church Leaders to take stoke of Covid-19 situation in the district was held at Mini-Conference Hall, Ukhrul on Tuesday.

As per the minute of meeting, the resource persons included Dr. Gaipu Longmei, Dr. Lucy Duidang, Dr. D Apao, Irengbam Rajeev, Dr. A Jujurani from State team representatives, State IEC Consultant and representatives from WHO, UNICEF and UNDP;

Resolutions taken were primarily on community and society’s participation in a collective effort along side Health Department in battling the pandemic and promoting vaccination.

The need for organising more awareness camps with support from Church leaders, CSOs and in proposing areas where such camps are needed in coordination with medical department.

A WhatsApp link was created for all the participants to disseminate correct information about the pandemic.

Shortage of more IEC information on Covid Vaccination was shared and the need to generate even in local dialect was proposed. Involving All India Radio was also proposed to the state team.

Manpower shortage for vaccinators and computer assistant for verifying beneficiaries was highlighted as a great concern was shared.

Other issues on mobility support for vaccination team and financial involvement to run awareness and vaccination was discussed and highlighted.

The meeting ended with vote of thanks form District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Achan Hungyo.
