Thounaojam Brinda, the MPS officer who returned Manipur chief minister’s Gallantry Medal conferred upon her in December of 2020 while she was the Additional SP of Narcotic Affairs of Border (NAB), is likely to contest in the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2022.

Also known as fearless cop, Thounaojam Brinda shot into limelight when a team of police led by her raided the official quarter of former ADC chairman Lhukhosei Zou in Imphal in a multi-crore drugs haul case where Zou was arrested on June 20, 2018.

However, barely a day after a court acquitted former Autonomous District Council (ADC) chairman from the multi-crore drug seizure case, the police officer returned Manipur chief minister’s Gallantry Medal.

News in Manipur has been potent with her claiming to contest the upcoming elections from Yaiskul Assembly Constituency in Manipur.

According to a news report in Impact News, Thounaojam Brinda has categorically told she will make a public announcement on whether she will contest in the election or not in October.

It may be mentioned that she is yet to resign from service. On asking her the claims of her contesting election, she told Impact News that it was her supporters not herself who made the claims about her contesting the upcoming 2022 election.
