In a press release, CoTU said the programme, described as a “Manipur Peace Route” cycling mission, is scheduled from 8 am to 3 pm and could create tension in the district. The organisation said the event should not be allowed to pass through Kangpokpi, especially during the Christmas festive season.

CoTU stated that the Kuki-Zo community of Kangpokpi district does not welcome any activity that may lead to communal tension and maintained that the community is peace-loving.
