CoTU however clarified that the decision is not a peace initiative. It said claiming the bodies lying in Imphal valley is an independent initiative and not of the government’s efforts to restoring peace in Manipur.

According to Lun Kipgen, the Media Cell Coordinator of CoTU, the committee, along with the families of the victims and district authorities, has agreed to bury all the bodies with full honors at the Martyrs Cemetery in Phaijang Village, Kangpokpi District.
