COVID-19 patients protest panics: Manipur

UT News Service | IMPHAL, August 5: COVID-19 patients on Wednesday agitated in front of the administrative block of the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) campus in Imphal creating panic and fear.

COVID-19 patients numbering around 20 came out of their Covid Care Centre (CCC) by breaking the lock of the CCC and staged protest in front of the administrative block of the institution which is located inside the hospital campus. The protest started around 11 am for allegedly poor quality of food and the manner in which meals were being served untimely to inmates provided by the hospital authorities. The protesters displayed sample of the food to the officials who rushed to pacify the protesters.

Only with the assurance of the the additional director along with other officials to address their grievances after consultation with higher authorities, the patients returned to their respective wards. Source in the hospital said that the agitators were asymptomatic COVID-19 patients under medical care.
