Manipur government on Sunday came up with another relief for the COVID-19 patients.

Barely a day after it announced bearing the expenses for the disposal/cremation of COVID-19 victims, Manipur government on Sunday decided to cover coronavirus patients by the Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) schemes.

If CMHT and PMJAY card holders are diagnosed with COVID-19, they can avail the benefits of cashless hospitalisation under the two schemes, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh announced on Facebook on Sunday.

“Happy to share that, for all the Covid patients holding CMHT and PMJAY cards, the expenses for their hospitalization in empanelled hospitals will now be covered under CMHT and PMJAY,” he posted.

Singh then asked beneficiaries of the two schemes to raise any issues, complaints and queries to the dedicated 24/7 toll free number 1800-103-2015.

The announcement of the cashless hospitalisation benefits to COVID-19 patients came barely after the state government announced bearing all the expenses for the disposal/cremation of the dead bodies due to COVID-19 in the state.

To implement the announcement, Imphal West district magistrate issued late on Saturday issued an order bearing all charges for disposal/cremation of the dead bodies due to COVID-19 as per relevant extend provisions.

A few days ago, the chief minister had also announced the government’s decision to provide free education to children who have lost parents to COVID-19. The government will als provide free food, accommodation and other necessities till they attain the age of 18 years, as per the announcement.
