CRPF Personnel Sent to Judicial Custody in Molestation Case

Ukhrul, Mar 6: The court of Special Judge of POCSO, Imphal West, remanded a CRPF personnel to judicial custody till March 19 in a molestation case. 

Farukh Abdullah (35), hailing from Barpeta in Assam, was arrested by Manipur police for allegedly molesting a girl in Imphal, media reports said. He was produced before the Special Judge, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) by a team of district women police on Wednesday, the reports further said.

According to a complaint to the police, the girl was molested allegedly by CRPF constable Farukh Abdullah in December 2024. The incident occurred in front of the gate of 109 Battalion CRPF while she was returning home along with some study materials, the reports added. 

The girl somehow escaped from the spot, but she did not disclose the incident to her family until December 29 when she narrated the occurrence to her mother. The family then met some top CRPF officials of the battalion and sought appropriate action against the accused. 

The accused admitted the crime, the reports also said. He was presented to the POCSO court after completing the remand in the police custody.
