UKHRUL: The Central Working Committee, Tangkhul Naga Foothills Organisation (CWC, TNFO) has demanded the immediate dismantling of an alleged illegal bunker reportedly set up by the Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) at the foothill of Lungter Hill in Sinakeithei, located close to the residential area of Sinakeithei Tangkhul village.
According to the statement, a road constructed in 2019 by the villagers as a gesture of goodwill has now become a source of tension, with allegations of intimidation and frequent gunfire disrupting normal life in the area. The continued presence of armed cadres has reportedly created fear among residents, affecting peace and stability.
The organisation further alleged that KLA cadres, said to be operating under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement from camps in Lungtin Sub-Block and Mt. Sinai, have violated the ground rules of the peace pact. It stated that since March 15, 2026, there have been repeated instances of firing in the area, which it described as unprovoked and in violation of agreements with the Government of India and the Government of Manipur.
The situation has reportedly impacted daily life in the village, with residents unable to access agricultural fields, tend to livestock, or carry out routine activities due to safety concerns. The CWC, TNFO described the situation as a serious humanitarian and security issue.

It also stated that despite prior intimation by the village authority to the 4th Mahar Regiment, no action has been taken to dismantle the bunker, adding that the inaction has contributed to growing insecurity among villagers.
In light of the situation, the organisation has urged both the state and central governments to take immediate steps to remove the alleged bunker and restore normalcy. It further stated that any escalation or untoward incident would be the responsibility of the authorities if timely action is not taken.
