SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has urged the Centre to hold consultations with stakeholders and make necessary amendments to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Amendment Bill, 2026, before it is passed.

Speaking after a meeting with Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju in New Delhi, Sangma said, “We requested the minister to have a larger discussion with other stakeholders so that concerns can be addressed,” according to Meghalaya Times.

Sangma expressed apprehension about certain provisions in the bill, particularly Section 16, which allows for the seizure of property based on a designated authority’s decision.
