Imphal: Imphal was painted with vibes from 90s and early 2000s pop culture on Tuesday night as popular Danish band Michael Learns to Rock (MLTR) set on fire their maiden musical performance in Manipur.
The gates were opened at 3 pm and the live music show went on till 10:30 pm at night at HVS Patsoi Ground in Imphal West.

Organised by 7 Sisters Foundation and presenting partner, Khelraja, the global band MLTR enthralled over 20,000 strong crowds gathered with their all-time hits. After a two-year hiatus, the show is one of the biggest music concerts of the year in Manipur.
Young and old alike, people from different parts of the state and neighbouring states joined the trio of Jascha Richter, Mikkel Lentz and Kare Wanscher and relived the old times. For many, at the close of the year end celebrations of on-going state Sangai Festival, this was the perfect Christmas gift.
The coming of MLTR band and performing in their home turf not only revived the live music scene in Manipur but it was, an overall, a perfect evening for the people as the state moves into festivities and wedding during this time of the year.

Director of 7 Sisters Foundation, Sunny Shimrah informed this correspondent that “on November 29, Michael Learns to Rock (MLTR), Denmark’s biggest pop rock band will be performing in Imphal as part of their “BACK ON THE ROAD TOUR 2022″. They will be performing at seven cities in India. The show at Imphal will last till 10 pm.”
Ananya Birla, a multi-platinum artiste and businesswoman opened the night with her popular numbers. With over 500 million streams, Ananya is also India’s biggest selling English language global popstar, and has scaled the charts both at home in India, and abroad. With three back-to-back double platinum selling singles and two platinum selling singles, Ananya is unstoppable. The MTV EMA nominee, began her musical journey at the age of 9 with the santoor, an Indian instrument. A skilled musician, Ananya incorporates her drumming, piano and guitar skills into live performances.
The evening also featured some popular local artists, including Innocent Eyes, winner of best vocalist at ShiRock 2018.

Earlier, as part of their Back on the road tour worldwide, the band performed in the Northeastern states in Mizoram and Assam drawing fans to the thousands.
MLTR has shows in Mumbai on December 4; Pune December 7; Bangalore December 9.
Meanwhile, the much anticipated Chris Norman and Band (Smokie) show slated for December 1, Thursday has been postponed indefinitely. Director of 7 Sisters Foundation, Sunny Shimrah informed this correspondent that two band members of the band could not obtain Indian visa on time, despite waiting till the last minute. When asked about next date of Chris Norman’s show, Sunny informed that a new date will be fixed as soon as possible.
