DC Senapati Conducts Joint Inspection of NH-02 Ahead of Monsoon

SENAPATI: The Deputy Commissioner of Senapati conducted a joint inspection of National Highway-02 on June 9, accompanied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADM), Mao, the General Manager of NHIDCL, officials from PMU-Senapati, and other concerned officers. The inspection was undertaken to assess the condition of the highway and review the preparedness of the concerned agencies for the forthcoming monsoon season.

During the inspection, several stretches of the highway requiring urgent attention were identified. To ensure the safe and uninterrupted movement of traffic during the monsoon period, the Deputy Commissioner directed the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to undertake a series of priority measures.

These include maintaining the highway in a motorable condition through the STMC contractors, M/s NDS Construction and M/s Exotic Contractors Pvt. Ltd.; immediate cleaning and clearance of all choked drains to ensure proper drainage and prevent waterlogging; expediting the installation of crash barriers at accident-prone and vulnerable locations; completing all pending maintenance and repair works before the onset of the monsoon; and fast-tracking the tendering process for the Strengthening and Overlay work so that a contractor can be appointed at the earliest for timely execution of the project.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for proactive and timely action to safeguard commuters and minimize disruptions caused by heavy rainfall. NHIDCL was urged to ensure strict compliance with the directions and carry out all necessary works within the stipulated timeframe.

The District Administration will continue to closely monitor the progress of the maintenance and improvement works to ensure road safety, smooth traffic movement, and public convenience throughout the monsoon season
