UKHRUL: Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) expressed profound sorrow and grave concern over the escalating series of violent incidents across Manipur from May 29 to June 11.
“These attacks have claimed innocent lives, destroyed homes and places of worship, displaced families, and severely eroded inter-community trust,” TIM said in a statement.
It condemned all forms of ethnic violence, targeted killings, abductions, intimidation, arson, and attacks on religious institutions, irrespective of the perpetrators or victims, including the abduction and brutal killing of six Naga civilians, the ambush and killing of truck driver Nitish Kumar from West Bengal, the arson attack on Kharam Vaiphei in Kangpokpi district, the brutal pre-dawn attack on Loibol village in Kangpokpi, the killing of Chunjanglung Panmei at Pongringlong in Kangpokpi district, the killing of Haokhogin Lhouvum from Lasan Village in Tamenglong district and the attack on Kultuh village.
Meanwhile, TIM expressed its appreciation on the successful humanitarian efforts leading to the safe release of 14 Kuki detainees/hostages on June 9 in Senapati district with the constructive role played by the United Naga Council (UNC), various community leaders, religious leaders, village authorities, state and central government, and all stakeholders in facilitating dialogue and peaceful handover.
Stating that violence is not the solution, the Thadou Inpi demanded an immediate end to all violence, killings, abductions, arson, and retaliatory attacks, while urging the state and central governments to ensure swift, impartial investigations and bring all perpetrators to justice.
