Decomposed Body Found on Thoubal River Bank

Imphal, October 2: An unidentified decomposed body was recovered on Thursday morning from the Thoubal river bank at Khoirom Mathak Leikai, near a ply factory.

Police said the body was first reported around 8:20 AM and found in a highly decomposed state, with only skeletal remains visible. It is suspected that the person may have been killed and the body later dumped in the river.

A case has been registered at Yairipok Police Station for further investigation. The site was inspected by a team led by the Officer-in-Charge of Yairipok PS in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and forensic experts.

The remains were shifted to JNIMS morgue for post-mortem examination and other formalities. Police said efforts are on to establish the identity of the deceased.
