Agartala, Dec 14: The family of Prasenjit Sarkar has filed a murder complaint against five persons who allegedly assaulted the delivery boy at a courier office in Dharmanagar’s Rajbari area on Saturday evening over a parcel delivery matter, hours before his body was found hanging near his residence, though police have registered it as an unnatural death case pending investigation.
The 24-year-old victim worked as a delivery boy at Blue Dart Express courier service. According to his elder brother Biswajit Sarkar, the incident stemmed from a phone call dispute when Prasenjit repeatedly contacted a customer regarding parcel delivery but received no response, leading him to speak in a different tone during a subsequent call from another number.
It is learned that on Saturday evening, the female customer arrived at the shop with three young women and two young men, confronting Prasenjit. Reportedly, despite the victim apologizing and acknowledging his mistake, the group allegedly assaulted him and forced him to perform squats while holding his ears in front of everyone. Moreover, they recorded the entire incident on video.

The shop owner, Nutan Dhar, confirmed the incident, stating that although he asked Prasenjit to apologize, and he complied, the group still beat him and made the video. “He was mentally devastated by this incident,” Dhar observed. Allegedly, the accused threatened Prasenjit with allegations of misbehaving with women and warned about posting the video on social media before departing.
However, the humiliating video reportedly went viral on social platforms within a short time and came to Prasenjit’s attention. Meanwhile, he went missing after the incident. Family members found his hanging body around five-thirty Sunday morning from a tree approximately fifty meters from their home.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father, Nepal Sarkar, has lodged a written murder complaint against five individuals identified as Susmita Bhattacharjee and Sangita Bhattacharjee, two sisters from South Hurua village in Dharmanagar, along with Sourab Bhattacharjee, Meghadip Bhattacharjee, and Piu Dhar from Dharmanagar.

Meanwhile, police have registered an unnatural death case, completed post-mortem examination, returned the body to the family, and continue their investigation.
