Ukhrul: The District Skill Committee of Ukhrul organised one day “District Skill cum Employment Mela” at Town Hall, Ukhrul on Friday.
Mission Director, Manipur Society for Skill Development, LN Kashung attended the function as Chief Guest.
Speaking at the occassion, LN Kashung stated that the process of identifying our skill gaps, developing and honing those skills is necessary as our skills determine our ability to execute plans with success. “Many of us are pursuing the kind of education for the job that does not exist today. We do not know hat kind of jobs will come up 10 years later. So we have to prepare ourselves to fit into those new jobs. Being skilled is very important to put your knowledge into practice by undergoing some kind of vocational training,” he also mentioned.

He further added that “Enough awareness and preaching of all forms has been done and carried out at Ukhrul District. Yet, we have not taken a single step. Are we resistant to changes? We will be left behind if we do not adapt to the fast changing world so we must seriously consider the prevailing issues and find our way forward. We have many educated unemployed youths in our society. We have to brush up the acquired knowledge and ideas. We should not be complacent of what we have learned. Reskilling and upskilling are needed for every educated person to make him or her a better informed person in this competitive world.
Are we in contradiction with time? Have we failed to see what is happening beyond our walls? Are we in static behaviour? Leadership confusion is a serious problem in our society. Have we failed to lead the youngsters in the right direction.”
