Ukhrul, June 20: The Social Work students of Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram, conducted an awareness program at Eden Resource Home, Lanaitang, Ukhrul, on Thursday.

The Department of Social Work (6th Semester) conducted the awareness program at Eden Resource Home, Lanai, Ukhrul, on 19 June 2025, with the primary objective of enriching the knowledge of children’s rights under the UNCRC.

During the programme, awareness on the Right to Survival, Right to Development, Right to Protection, and Right to Participation was deliberated. These rights are crucial, especially for neglected children who are victims of alcoholism, divorce, and immoral behaviour of parents. In addition, the trainees conducted drawing competitions by providing colours, chart papers, and pencils to boost the children’s creativity and develop a sense of confidence and achievement.

Leisure activities fostered a sense of joy, teamwork, and emotional well-being. Overall, the initiative created a positive, inclusive environment that empowered children, promoted their mental and emotional development, and encouraged active participation in safeguarding their own rights as well as those of others.
