Kangpokpi, Oct 14: Acting on specific information, a combined team of Kangpokpi Police, Assam Rifles and CRPF personnel seized a large quantity of suspected brown sugar and arrested three persons on Monday.
As per police, the operation was launched around 1 pm under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi, led by S.L. Kamkhohao, MPS, Additional SP (Law & Order), along with L. Lhunminlal Khongsai, MPS, SDPO Kangpokpi, and Lunthang Vaiphei, MPS, SDPO Saparmeina. Personnel from 16 Assam Rifles and 112 CRPF also took part in the operation.

During the search, the team recovered 225 soap cases suspected to contain brown sugar, weighing 9.844 kg (including packaging). Those arrested have been identified as Veineichong Lhungdim (wife of Thongkhopao Lhungdim) of C. Munnom Village, Thongkhopao Lhungdim, and Thangminlun Haokip, son of Thanghao Haokip, of T. Thangkan Village, Saikul, police said.
The team also seized one Alto car, one diesel auto, and four mobile phones from their possession.

Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation to trace the network involved in the transportation of the contraband.
