DC Distributes Sports Items to IDPs in Churachandpur Relief Camps

Churachandpur, October 15: In an effort to promote community engagement and physical well-being among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, Dharun Kumar S, distributed sports items to residents of various relief camps during a programme held at Sadbhavana Mandap, Tuibong, on Tuesday.

The event was jointly organised by Samagra Shiksha, Manipur, in collaboration with the Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Churachandpur. As part of the initiative, over 20 relief camps received two volleyballs, two footballs, and two carom sets each.

According to official data, Churachandpur district currently accommodates around 15,359 IDPs across 81 relief camps. The distribution programme was attended by Zonal Education Officer Esther Chingneikim, officials from the ZEO, and representatives from several relief camps.

In a related humanitarian effort, the Churachandpur District Administration on Monday distributed essential food items to displaced families in the camps. The relief included 856 bags of rice, 175 bags of dal, 108 boxes of cooking oil, 68 bags of matar (dried peas), and 43 bags of onions.

The initiatives reflect the administration’s ongoing commitment to improving the living conditions and morale of displaced communities in the district.
