Dry Weather Causes Water Scarcity in Meghalaya

Shillong: In a concerning development, Meghalaya’s Chief Engineer of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department, BM Lyndem, has revealed that the current dry weather conditions have significantly reduced the water level at the Mawphlang Dam, the primary source of drinking water for Shillong residents.

Lyndem emphasized that despite the noticeable decrease, the dam’s storage capacity still allows for water distribution for another three to four months, given the prevailing circumstances.

In response to this situation, citizens are urged to utilize water judiciously and embrace water-saving measures wherever feasible, as stated by the PHE CE.

Highlighting the critical need for water conservation, Lyndem stressed that it is not merely a necessity but a collective responsibility towards ensuring a sustainable water supply for the community.
