East Khasi Hills Dy Commissioner Reconstitutes Sexual Harassment Committee

Shillong: East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner, RM Kurbah has reconstituted the local complaints committee (LCC) for implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Preventive, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

A notification issued by the DC said that the Block Development Officers (BDOs) of eleven Community & Rural Development Blocks are nodal officers of the committee headed by chairperson and additional deputy commissioner D Kharshiing.

The members of the committee include Ebhamiki War Pakyntein, law officer of the SMB, Mayfereen Ryntathiang, president of Grassroot Shillong and Rebina Subha, founder chairperson, Shamakami NGO. E Kharchandy, District Social Welfare Officer is member ex-officio.

The function of the committee is to receive complaints of sexual harassment from establishment where the internal complaints committee has not been constituted due to having less then 10 workers or the complaint is against the employer himself.

The chairperson and every member of the local committee shall hold office for such periods not exceeding three years from the date of their appointment.
