Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Launched in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, June 5: The District Administration of Ukhrul, in collaboration with the Ukhrul Forest Division and Zonal Education Office, Ukhrul, successfully launched the programme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” (Plant for Mother 2.0) at the Mini Secretariat Complex, Ukhrul, on Thursday.

Polly Makan, ADM of Ukhrul, launched the programme in the presence of David Kashungnao, CEO ADC-Ukhrul; Duna Duo, SDO of Jessami; Roland Ningshen, SDO of Chingai; Riamei Jangmei, SDC of Ukhrul; Thaimei Badan, ZEO Ukhrul; and Chirmishan SP, Range Forest Officer Ukhrul, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Polly Makan highlighted the government’s commitment to sustainable development and urged community participation in environmental initiatives. She also encouraged responsible waste management, the promotion of eco-friendly alternatives, and community-led clean-up drives to mitigate plastic waste.

“Let us use this World Environment Day as a renewed commitment to our shared home. Let’s educate, inspire, and act together. Let us empower our students to be the environmental champions of tomorrow, safeguarding the beauty and health of Ukhrul for generations to come. Let’s work hand in hand to beat plastic pollution and build a healthier, greener future for Ukhrul and for our planet,” stated Thaimei Badan.

A tree plantation was carried out within the premises of the Mini Secretariat Complex, led by ADM Polly Makan.
