Mao, June 5: Mao Students’ Union (MSU) in collaboration with the Mao Range Office of the Senapati Forest Division and the Mao and Tadubi Police Stations, came together to hold a large tree plantation drive in observance of World Environment Day 2025. This year’s event followed the global theme, “Ending Global Plastic Pollution.”
The drive took place at the Chiisarü Multi-Purpose Hall and saw around 1,500 saplings planted along the Tadubi–Maopungdong stretch. Students, youth groups, and police personnel all actively participated, showing strong community spirit for a greener future.

Chokhoni Koso, the Range Forest Officer for Mao, spoke about how planting trees is not just about today but about investing in the health of generations to come. MSU President Pfokrehrii Matekho also addressed the crowd, stressing the need for everyone to take responsibility in caring for the environment.
Anthony H., the Second Officer-in-Charge at Tadubi Police Station, highlighted the importance of protecting natural resources through sustainable practices. The event was also supported by other officials, including Pavei Alexius Pou from Mao Police Station, along with B. Kaihrii and Kapani Athisii.

Several local student organizations joined the drive, such as the Tadubi Youth and Students’ Organization, Chakremei Students’ Union, Abo-Rikee Students’ Union, Maopungdong Students’ Union, and the Esiiphi Education Centre.
