KANGPOKPI, NOVEMBER 9: InSIDE-North East marked a momentous occasion with the graduation of its 21st batch of Tailoring Training and 10th batch of Computer Training, held in Saikul, Kangpokpi district. The event was a celebration of skill development, community resilience, and sustainable livelihoods, attended by esteemed dignitaries and local leaders.
N. Shokhongam Baite, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi; James Doujapao Haokip, CEO of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council; and Lamminlal Simte, SDO Champhai, jointly presided over the ceremony and Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Functional President and led the distribution of agricultural resources to local farmers under the Natural Resources Management Club. Power tillers, Water pipes, nets for farm fence, sewing machines and Garlic & potato seeds were handed over to selected beneficiaries to promote climate-resilient farming and enhance food security in the region.

The conferral of certificates to the graduating trainees was graciously conducted by Thangkam Lupheng, President of Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai; Samuel Misao, SDO of Lhugtin Block; and Tongminthang Khongsai, Officer-in-Charge of Saikul Police Station. Their presence underscored the collective commitment of civil society and administration to youth empowerment and inclusive development.
The ceremony celebrated over 60 graduates who completed vocational training designed to foster self-reliance, digital literacy, and economic participation. The tailoring and computer training programs are part of InSIDE-North East’s broader mission to build survivor-centric, constitutionally aligned, and community-driven development pathways.
In his address, Baite emphasized the transformative power of skill-building and sustainable agriculture. Haokip highlighted the importance of institutional collaboration in uplifting marginalized communities, while Simte reaffirmed the administration’s support for grassroots initiatives.
Hejang Misao, Director, InSIDE-North East made a strong appeal to everyone to stop poppy cultivation and take up farming at commercial scale and make the region organic farming producing and self-sufficient without depending on import from outside.

The event concluded with blessing prayer by pastor Hegin Misao also with renewed pledges to strengthen local capacities, promote ecological stewardship, and ensure that every citizen has access to tools for dignity, livelihood, and peace.
