UKHRUL: In a step towards supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs), the Evangelical Assembly Church (EAC) under its Survival and Community-Led Response (SCLR–Kowleng) Project distributed essential educational materials at the Lanva TD Block Relief Camp in Lingsiphai, Churachandpur district on Tuesday.
The initiative, hosted by Benjohn, President of the Young Vaiphei Association (YVA), Haupi Block, benefited 107 students residing in the camp. The relief materials included benches, desks, and two whiteboards aimed at improving the students’ learning environment.
In addition to educational support, the EAC also contributed to the construction of a new community kitchen designed to serve 406 inmates of the camp, ensuring safer and more hygienic cooking facilities.
Delivering the introductory address, Simon Hrangchal, Relief and Development Director of EAC, stated that the Survival and Community-Led Response project seeks to foster resilience, dignity, inclusion, and sustainability among displaced communities. He added that the Church has also been conducting a three-month tuition programme for children and distributing medicines to IDPs as part of its continued relief efforts.
According to sources from the EAC, the assistance was initiated following urgent appeals from the community highlighting gaps in essential facilities at the camp. The total value of the amenities provided amounts to nearly ₹4 lakh.

Relief camp officials expressed gratitude, stating that the new furniture would provide students with a proper and comfortable study environment, enabling better concentration and helping them pursue their education despite the hardships of displacement.
