DIMAPUR, MAY 19: The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has issued a strongly worded statement accusing “Kuki armed terrorists” of carrying out prolonged criminal and violent activities in the southern parts of Nagaland and adjoining areas.

In a notification issued on May 19 through its Ministry of Rali Wali (Information & Publicity), the FGN alleged that the activities of the armed groups had “reached beyond the range of human nature” and declared that action would be taken against them “along with the right thinking peoples and nations.”

The statement reiterated that the ancestral land of the Nagas is “Nagaland” and maintained that persons born of “Naga blood,” as defined under Article 10 of the Yehzabo (Constitution) of Nagaland, are bona fide citizens of Nagaland.

At the same time, the FGN stated that members of the Kuki Tribal Union (KTU) and other non-Naga communities who have been “honestly and peacefully” living among the Nagas in accordance with the Yehzabo are regarded as “brothers and sisters” and citizens of Nagaland.

The organization further asserted that, apart from the Naga National Council (NNC) and the FGN, it does not recognize “any group or anyone else.”

The statement also referred to “illegal immigrants, refugees and armed terrorists,” alleging that such elements were disturbing normal life and attacking Nagas as well as neighboring indigenous communities.

Calling for unity, the FGN urged Nagas across all regions and communities to “stand and defend our land and our people as a Nation.”
