UKHRUL: A delegation of the National People’s Party (NPP), Manipur led by General Secretary (Admin) Lakpachui Siro visited three border villages, Choro, Namlee and Wanglee, on May 19 following the alleged attack by the Myanmar-based militant group Kuki National Army – Burma earlier this month.

The delegation, accompanied by NPP ST Front president Jason Jajo and other party functionaries, met villagers and local authorities in the affected areas, which were allegedly attacked on May 7, 2026.

During the visit, the NPP team distributed relief materials to the affected villagers. The items included 130 blankets, two 50-kg bags of sugar, four 30-kg bags of dal, 12 one-kg packets of milk, 16 packets of tea, 200 packets of biscuits and 36 bottles of cooking oil.

According to the party, villagers raised concerns over security and urged the State Government to take immediate confidence-building measures in the sensitive international border region.

The villagers reportedly demanded the establishment of police stations and security outposts in the affected border villages, stating that many displaced residents remain reluctant to return home without assurance of safety and protection from the government. They also earnestly appealed both the State and Centre Governments for timely rehabilitation and compensation.

The NPP delegation assured the villagers that their concerns would be conveyed to the appropriate authorities.
