Fire Ravages PHED Thoubal Division Office

Thoubal: A raging fire tore through the office building of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Thoubal division in Thoubal district Friday night, reducing at least six rooms to ashes and destroying official documents stored within.

The blaze, which erupted suddenly, quickly engulfed the PHED Thoubal division office building, leaving devastation in its wake. Furniture and critical documents housed within the offices of the executive engineer, assistant engineer, and other officials were reportedly consumed by the flames.

The office chowkidar, upon hearing noises around 11 PM, discovered the inferno and promptly alerted authorities. Fire tenders from Thoubal Fire Services rushed to the scene and battled the blaze, eventually bringing it under control.

While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, initial speculation points to the possibility of an electrical short circuit.
