Imphal: The speculation early this year, that Manipur will get its first luxurious five-star hotel in the State soon, is now a reality with the announcement and laying of foundation stone for a luxury five-star hotel in the capital, Imphal.

The CM announced that the luxury hotel, first in the State, to be developed by Classic Group of Hotels, will be delivered before 2025 Sangai Festival.

N Biren Singh took to twitter and wrote, “A 5-STAR HOTEL TO BE DELIVERED TO THE PEOPLE OF MANIPUR BEFORE THE 2025 MANIPUR SANGAI FESTIVAL Pleased to lay the foundation stone for a luxury 5-Star Hotel developed under PPP mode at Hotel Imphal, Kabo Leikai today.”

In a following tweet, the CM further wrote, “With more such world-class accommodation facilities, the ecotourism sector in the state will be given a significant boost. Manipur is already emerging as a top destination in the Northeast in terms of attracting the most foreign tourists.”

It is worth noting that the chief minister in February 2023 chaired a discussion with visiting teams from Taj Hotel and Howarth Hotels at my secretariat, where they discussed on widening the scope for travel and ecotourism in Manipur with plans to making Manipur as one of the top tourist destinations in the country.

Taj Hotels is a chain of luxury hotels and a subsidiary of the Indian Hotels Company Limited, a Tata Group Company that operates a total of 90 hotels and resorts with 75 across Indian and 15 in overseas. Whereas Howarth Hotels is one of world’s largest and most experienced hospitality consultancy firm based in the UK.
