UADC Caretaker chairman hands over one BLS ambulance each to Ukhrul and Kamjong dist hospitals

The Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (UADC) caretaker chairman Dr Yaronsho Ngalung handed over one basic life support system ambulance each to Ukhrul and Kamjong district hospitals for use during Covid-19 pandemic at UADC office premises on Saturday.

Blessed by Rev. Luther Chamroy, associate pastor UBC Ukhrul, CEO Polly Makan, Sr. MCS Account Officer, Edah Horam, Deputy Inspector of School, Somi Raising, Agriculture Officer, Kahaosan and staffs of ADC Ukhrul attended the event.

Dr. Ngalung officially handed over the life support ambulances to the Assistant Commissioner to DC Ukhrul, Kachamthai Faiga Gangmei and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Ukhrul Dr. AS. Kapangring, HL. Jain SDO Kamjong and Dr. Mathotmi, DSO Kamjong.

Commenting on the new addition of BLS, Dr Ngalung exuded confidence that the new ambulance for the two government hospitals will give added advantages in their fight against Covid-19 Pandemic.Earlier there was only one ambulance each but now two ambulances each for them.

The caretaker chairman further wished the CMO, doctors and nurses the best in their future endeavours.

Later, UADC CEO Polly handed over the MoU to DC Ukhrul and DC Kamjong at Caretaker Chairman’s Chamber.

Ambulances are the property of ADC Ukhrul. Once the Covid pandemic is over, ambulances shall be duly returned to ADC Ukhrul. These ambulances were purchased from the 15 Finance Commision award for the financial year of 2020-21 under tied grant, Dr Yaronsho said quoting the signed memo.

It may be mentioned that as part of Manipur’s infrastructure development in the health sector, Chief Minister Biren Chief on Wednesday under the Department of Tribal Affairs and Hill, GOM, procured and distributed ten ambulances to six Autonomous District Councils (ADC) namely Churachandpur, Chandel, Kangpokpi, Ukhrul, Senapati, and Tamenglong to bolster the efforts to contain the pandemic.

The 10 Basic Life Support ambulances to six ADCs of the state were handed over to the concerned Chief Executive Officers of the respective ADCs in a programme held at the Western Gate of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat attended by Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister Vungzagin Valte, Chairman, MANIREDA Ginsuanhau, Deputy Chairman, Manipur State Planning Board L. Rameshwor, Additional Chief Secretary Letkhogin Haokip and other Government Officials among others.

Two ambulances each were provided to the ADCs for four districts namely Churachandpur, Chandel, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul while one ambulance each to the ADCs of Tamenglong and Senapati District.

The much needed addition of ambulance comes as a big relieve for the two government hospitals and the populace which has been facing acute shortages of life support as they manage the whole affairs with single digit ambulance amid health crisis.
