5 Armed Footballers from Kangpokpi Arrested

Ukhrul, Feb 15: The Manipur Police on February 12, 2025, arrested five individuals involved in a viral video showing 10 to 15 miscreants wearing camouflage attire and football kits while holding sophisticated weapons.

According to the Manipur Police report, the incident took place at the K Gamnomphai Village Ground during an ongoing football match in K. Gamnomphai Village, located in the Saitu Sub-Division under the G Saparmeina Police Station, Kangpokpi District. The arrested individuals, seen in the video wearing football kits and brandishing weapons, are identified as Mangtinlen Kipgen alias Baemang (26), Mangtinlen Kipgen (24), Seithenmang Kipgen (28), Lunminsei Kipgen (21), and Lunkhogin Kipgen (24).

The viral video, first reported by NDTV, was watermarked “Kukiland,” and shows men in football kits carrying sophisticated weapons, including AK-47s and American M-series rifles while playing football in a public playground. One player is seen running with a ball while holding an assault rifle. The word “Sanakhang” is displayed on the jerseys, with the names Ginna Kipgen and Ashijolneng on the backs of two individuals wielding sophisticated weapons. The video also features heavily armed individuals in full combat military gear, along with spectators, including women and children, watching from the stands.
