Former Minister & MLA N Kayisii passes away after prolonged illness

Ukhrul, Jan 18: Former minister and current MLA of 49-Tadubi AC in the Manipur Legislative Assembly, N Kayisii, passed away on Saturday at his residence in Imphal after a prolonged illness.

Currently serving as an MLA for a second term, Kayisii represented the National People’s Party (NPP) and held the position of state President of NPP until his passing.

MLA Kayisii had been receiving treatment for stomach cancer at the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital in Mumbai since February last year.

Various elected officials, including the state Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Ministers, MLAs, and NPP party workers, have visited and paid respect to the departed leader.

Former Deputy Chief Minister and current National Vice President of the NPP, Yumnam Joykumar, has honored the memory of the departed leader, recognizing him as a crucial figure in promoting harmony between the hill and valley communities. His death, occurring during the ongoing crisis in the state, is viewed as a significant loss.

A state-level condolence program will be held tomorrow before taking the mortal remains to his birthplace Makhan Khuman, Tadubi Constituency, for his last rites on January 20.

The former Minister and sitting MLA is survived by his wife and eight children, including three sons and five daughters.
