KAMJONG: The situation in Chassad and around Kamjong district headquarters remained tense following protests and violence since Friday night, prompting the district administration to impose prohibitory restrictions within a 400-metre radius of Chassad Police Gate Junction.
According to sources, the confrontation began at around 8 pm on Friday and continued intermittently at the time of filing this report. Four houses were reportedly burnt during the incident, although official confirmation was awaited.

Following the incident, the District Magistrate of Kamjong issued a prohibitory order covering the area within a 400-metre radius of Chassad Police Gate Junction, citing concerns over a possible breach of peace in and around the district headquarters.
The order, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), prohibits the assembly of five or more persons, the carrying of weapons and other potentially harmful objects, including firearms, sticks and stones, and the movement of people within the specified area.
However, the restrictions exempt security personnel, magistrates on duty and those engaged in maintaining essential services. Individuals holding special permits issued by the District Magistrate or the Superintendent of Police, Kamjong district, are also exempted.
