Governor Bhalla Celebrates 56th Years of Manipur State Museum

Imphal, September 24: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, accompanied by the First Lady, joined the 56th Foundation Day celebrations of the Manipur State Museum today, highlighting the state’s rich cultural legacy.

As part of the event, the Governor released the book “Hiyang Hiren of Churachand Maharaja” by K. Sobita Devi and inaugurated a special exhibition featuring photographs of Hiyang Hiren and rare gold and silver artifacts. In a gesture linking heritage with nature, he also planted an Uningthou Nachumbi sapling under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative.

Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel was among the dignitaries present. Addressing the gathering, Governor Bhalla praised the museum for preserving Manipur’s history for over five decades and described museums as “living institutions” that connect the past, present, and future while inspiring younger generations to value their heritage.
