Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya Reviews Security in Moreh, Engages with Civil Society and Displaced Families

IMPHAL, AUG 30: Governor of Manipur, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, visited border town, Moreh in Tengnoupal district of Manipur today and reviewed the security situation of the district. The Governor was briefed by Brigadier Ved Pal, Commander, 26th Sector, Assam Rifles at the Battalion Headquarters of 5th AR at Moreh. IGP, Kabib K, senior officers of both police and AR, and other district level officers were also present at the briefing. The Governor directed the officers to work for ensuring safety and security to the people in the district, a statement from the Raj Bhavan said.

The Governor also met the representatives of civil society organisations where they apprised about the administrative problems faced by them. The Governor assured that all required measures will be taken up for finding the solution to their grievances, the statement also said.

Later, the Governor inspected the Indo-Myanmar border fencing in Moreh town and interacted with the BRTF officers. The officers briefed the Governor about the progress of the fencing works.

The Governor also met and distributed relief materials to the internally displaced persons staying at relief camps opened at Moreh Higher Secondary School and at the Battalion Headquarters of 5th AR.
