Manipur recorded its highest single-day record number of deaths and infections from the COVID-19, with six people confirmed dead and 301 new cases on Wednesday.
In the last 24 hours, six persons of ages ranging from 40 to 88 years expired in hospitals in Imphal and Tamenglong district. Among them was a woman of 40-year-old from Kangpokpi district. The 88-year-old man was from Tamenglong district as per the latest report of the state Health Department.
The cumulative number of deaths in the state stands at 103, the report said on Wednesday.
The state also recorded the highest number of single-day spikes of 301 fresh positive cases, taking the total infection tally of the state to 14,094.
The report said that a total of 301 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours. Among them 281 persons (150 males and 131 females) were from the general population and 20 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), it added.
Among the new cases only seven persons were returnees from other states and the rest were locals without any significant travel history.
Meanwhile, with the discharge of 86 cases on Wednesday from the various Covid care facilities across the state, the number of persons recovered from the viral infection rose to 10,915.
The recovery rate of the state stands at 77.44%, as per the report.
