HNLC links lead to arrest of two, police warn against associations with banned outfit

Shillong, Mar 21: Two more persons have been detained today and during their interrogation and that of several others, it has come to light that the proscribed outfit HNLC is indulging in brainwashing innocent youth by unleashing vicious propaganda to keep their extortion industry running, Ri Bhoi district SP, Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said today.

Police are also investigating if any financial contributions were/are made to the banned outfit, he said.

The police officer also warned that any person having an association of any kind will be questioned and legal liability will be fixed under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

He informed that one more case has also been registered regarding hoisting of HNLC flag on National Highway in Ri Bhoi district in August 2023.

“All nefarious activities of HNLC are being conducted through social media and VOIP platforms,” Dhanoa said. He also added that all are advised that if they get any contact/call from HNLC they are to immediately inform the police and block the profile/number before making contact.

The SP also released one video of a conversation between the “so called military commander Sanbor Pala of HNLC” and one of the main accused in the Ri Bhoi IED blast recovery case. 

“It remains our commitment that anybody having any connection with HNLC is brought to the book and accountability will be fixed,” he said.
